Sheikh Saeed Al Maktoum’s House

Sheikh Saeed Al Maktoum House is a historic building and former residential quarters of Saeed bin Maktoum Al Maktoum, former ruler of Dubai in the United Arab Emirates.

History of Sheikh Saeed Al Maktoum’s House

Constructed in the secure Al Shindagha area, and built in the year 1896, this house was designed as a safe zone residence area of the ruler of Dubai in the United Arab Emirates. Overlooking the Arabian Gulf, this house served as the residence of Sheikh Saeed Al Maktoum from 1912 till the year 1958, and many of his children and grandchildren were born during that period and grew up in the premises of that house. The architecture and the design of the house will make you travel back in time to the period of the ruler’s reign.

The Sheikh Mohammed house is a spatially vast area that is a great example of the early 20th-century style of architecture, with many wings, both open and closed, and quite a few air towers, known as Barajeel. While the house no more serves as the residential headquarters of the ruler, it has now been turned into a museum with many exhibitions, showcasing the life and history of the great ruler and his family.
