The Abdulla Bin Zaid Al Mahmoud Islamic Cultural Center, affectionately known as Bin Zaid and previously recognized as Fanar or Qatar Islamic Culture Center, stands as a cultural cornerstone in Doha, the vibrant capital of Qatar. Situated in close proximity to Doha Corniche, it commands attention as one of the city’s most prominent landmarks.
At the heart of the center lies its iconic mosque, distinguished by its unique minaret design. While it held the title of Qatar’s largest mosque until 2009, it remains unparalleled in height, asserting its presence as the tallest mosque in the country.
Named in honor of the esteemed Qatari Islamic scholar and architect of the nation’s judicial system, Sheikh Abdulla bin Zaid Al-Mahmoud, the mosque pays homage to his profound contributions. Bestowed by the Emir of Qatar, the name serves as a lasting tribute to his legacy and leadership as the country’s supreme judge.
The official inauguration of the center took place on January 12, 2008, under the auspices of Qatari Prime Minister Hamad bin Jassim bin Jaber Al Thani.
