Katara Cultural Village, also called Katara, is a cultural and commercial complex in Doha, Qatar, located on the eastern coast between West Bay and the Pearl.
It was soft-opened in October 2010 during the Doha Tribeca Film Festival.
The Cultural Village Foundation is an extraordinary initiative aimed at fostering human interaction through art and cultural exchange, made possible by the visionary leadership of HH Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al Thani, the Father Emir of the State of Qatar.
In alignment with the evolving global culture that underscores the significance of diversity in human progress, Katara Cultural Village stands as Qatar’s largest and most diverse cultural project. It serves as a hub where individuals converge to immerse themselves in the richness of world cultures. Boasting magnificent theaters, concert halls, exhibition galleries, and state-of-the-art facilities, Katara aspires to become a global leader in multicultural activities.
In accordance with the objectives outlined in the Qatar National Vision 2030, Katara assumes the role of preserving Qatar’s heritage and traditions while promoting awareness of the value inherent in every culture and civilization. Accordingly, Katara hosts a myriad of international, regional, and local festivals, workshops, performances, and exhibitions, thus fulfilling its mission to celebrate and honor cultural diversity.
