Initially designated as The Kuwait Telecommunications Tower, construction of the tower began before the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait on August 2, 1990. The invasion interrupted construction, which was nearly halfway completed at the time. Fortunately, the structure remained undamaged during the conflict, and construction resumed following the expulsion of Iraqi forces on February 27, 1991. Upon its completion in 1993, the tower was renamed the Liberation Tower, symbolizing Kuwait’s triumph and liberation from Iraq.
