Bahrain National Museum
The Bahrain National Museum is the largest and oldest public museum in Bahrain. It is situated in Manama, adjacent to the National Theatre of Bahrain.
The museum is open from Saturday to Thursday, 9 AM to 3 PM. Admission is free for children under the age of 6, while tickets for other visitors cost 1.1Bahraini dinars (around 246.78 ₹). History of Bahrain National Museum
Welcome to the Bahrain National Museum, a cultural treasure inaugurated by the late Amir H.H. Shaikh Isa Bin Salman Al-Khalifa on December 15, 1988. Regarded as one of the most distinguished museums in the Gulf region, it stands as a prominent landmark on the island today.
Designed by Krohn and Hartvig Rasmussen, the museum’s remarkable architecture features a striking white travertine marble facade and occupies a central position on an artificial peninsula overlooking the captivating island of Muharraq. Comprising two interconnected buildings spanning approximately 20,000 square meters, the museum complex offers a comprehensive experience for visitors.
The main building serves as the focal point for the permanent and temporary exhibitions, art galleries, lecture halls, a gift shop, and a café. Meanwhile, the administrative building accommodates essential facilities such as offices, research areas, conservation laboratories, and collection storage spaces.
Immerse yourself in Bahrain’s rich history spanning over 6,000 years as you journey through the museum’s thematic halls, including the Halls of Graves, Dilmun, Tylos and Islam, Customs and Traditions, Traditional Trades and Crafts, and Documents and Manuscripts. Each exhibition hall on the ground and first floors offers a captivating narrative, complemented by the grand foyer—a spacious area adorned with natural light, serving as the backdrop for the engaging exhibition, “Investing in Culture.”
